Easter Week

We spent a few days at Villa de Leyva for Easter. David did some work around the camp and we we enjoyed some time together as well. We went to visit some waterfalls that were a harrowing 45 minute ride away. A normal car could get lost in some of the potholes we went over. It was beautiful, but it was very scary...at the top of the falls were some nice flat rocks that had rushing, roaring water going over them, of course with no guard rails. The path just opens up so you can fall right down the falls! I was scared of the kids falling in, so we went down to the bottom of the falls. It wasn't much safer there! And then it started to rain, so we had a really messy muddy walk back up to the top. It reminded me of an earlier blog where we had gone to see other falls at another camp and ended up getting rained on, but this time our adult/child ratio was a little better as the camp care taker had come along as well as his sister and her 3 kids who were more like early teen aged.

Thinking of falls made me remember an amazing story here in the news. It was about a lady who went into the kitchen to fix her 3-year old son something to eat. He was happily watching Peter Pan in their 5th story apartment when she went into the kitchen. Suddenly she heard screaming. She ran in the living room and saw an open window. He had decided to be like Peter and fly. The most amazing thing was, he landed in mud and walked away dirty but unharmed. The screaming, by the way, wasn't her son, it was people who had witnessed it. He didn't seem to understand what the big fuss was about.

Back to our stay at the camp, one night, we decided to make s'mores. Can I have some more? Asked Julia. NOW you're catching on, Julia! And right after that was Lydia asking "Can I roast another mess-mellow?" EXACTLY!

We had a great time!
