Our new home

A picture is worth a thousand words, right? The first picture shows the view from our front window, and shows what the house (condo) we are renting looks like. The next one is our living/dining rom. The third shows the view down the stairs from the loft, a dizzying flight of stairs, striking fear into the heart of any mother with a soon to walk baby!

When you walk in the door, there are 3 stairs going down to the lower level and several stairs going up to the main level.

The lower level has 3 bedrooms, a patio that is covered (unfortunately, the cover leaks), and 2 full baths (showers, not tubs), even a linen closet, unheard of in any other apartment we looked at to rent.

The main level has a living/dining room with fireplace, and a very adequate kitchen. I've attached a picture of a kitchen from another apartment that we looked at that is a far more typical Colombian kitchen, just so you can see how grand our stainless steel kitchen is (last picture). Off the kitchen is a small room with a closet and a tiny tiny bath, including the littlest shower you ever saw! WE use the closet as a pantry, and the bath is the most used bath in the place because in spite of its tightness, it's convenient!! The room may end up being David's study or something else, we're not sure yet. There are also stairs up to a loft. The loft has a window and built in bookshelves. It is the play room right now.

There is a small park within our neighborhood. There are 2 guards always on duty. One roams and the other stays put. They also have cameras, and they pay attention to the cameras (one day, the kids went outside and I was still in grabbing some last minute stuff. They sat ON the little bushes that edge the fence across the street. By the time I got out there, and was telling them to get off, a guard was wondering by, I'm pretty sure to make sure they would get off!).

There is a bike trail right out our back gate. You can get out the gate by pressing the buzzer on the fence in the morning and until 4pm, and waiting for the roaming guard to unlock it for you. Running horizontally with the bike trail is a "river", full of sink/shower sewage, treated, David thinks. The smell is not great, but it seems a good place to run the kids every now and then! It is also a nice way to get to a grocery store that is 1/2 mile from here, without having to walk along the main busy road.
